Hahn Reaches Out to South LA, Announces Former Councilman Nate Holden’s Endorsement

Mayor James Hahn, looking to strengthen his support base in South Los Angeles, appeared with former Councilman Nate Holden, who announced his support of the mayor’s reelection bid. “Jim Hahn has been a trusted friend to my community and to this city, and I’m not going to trade in a proven old friend for an unproven new one,” Holden said. “Jim Hahn will level with you. I know both candidates, and Jim Hahn is by far the best qualified to lead the city for the next four years. The city is safer, major job programs are being implemented, and the kids have a place to go after school. Jim Hahn will keep Los Angeles moving forward.” Hahn appeared with Holden and other community leaders at Mama’s House restaurant on Crenshaw Blvd, and also announced the endorsement of Kenneth C. Ulmer, pastor of Faithful Central Bible Church. In a news release, Hahn said the two leaders joining a growing list of African American leaders supporting the mayor. Hahn also pointed out that three of his seven deputy mayors are African American, violent crime and gang crime have dropped, and there are more police officers on the street.
