Warner Bros. Makes Nice with BitTorrent

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group will distribute downloadable video content of its movies and television shows through BitTorrent Inc.’s publishing platform. BitTorrent made an agreement with Motion Picture Association of America to prevent film piracy and innovate online digital content. BitTorrent will provide peer-assisted technology for the video-on-demand and electronic sales beginning summer of 2006 featuring Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride, Dukes of Hazzard and more. BitTorrent was designed in 2001 as a publication tool for large files on the Internet. The search engine was launched in 2005 allowing publishers to showcase their content for consumers. As a result of BitTorrent’s agreement with MPAA, BitTorrent removed copyright infringing material from its search results to legalize its distribution.
