Demonstrators Rally for Patient Care at Encino Hospital

Health care workers held a “Rally for Quality Patient Care” at Encino-Tarzana Regional Medical Center in Encino on Aug. 21. The rally is part of a statewide effort to address staffing, equipment and other issues related to patient care. Tenet, the medical center’s owner, is in contract negotiations with Service Employees International Union (SEIU). “While the SEIU’s national leaders are focused on attempting to access nearly two dozen Tenet hospitals outside California as part of a negotiation for a California wage agreement, the focus of the management team at Encino-Tarzana is right here at our hospital on the issues that matter most to us: quality patient care,” said CEO Dale Surowitz in a prepared statement. During the past 42 months the hospital has received numerous accolades from state and independent agencies, alike, Surowitz said in the statement. Moreover, during the past year, more than $8.6 million in capital improvements and equipment eases have been made at Encino-Tarzana, he added from the statement.
