Valley Presbyterian Hospital placed No. 5 among the top 20 Los Angeles Department of Water & Power Energy Efficiency Program participants for 2006. Valley Pres is the only hospital that made the department’s list of energy efficient businesses. Juan Salazar, director of Plant Operations at Valley Presbyterian Hospital, said the hospital won the high ranking after retrofitting lighting fixtures to provide full-spectrum lighting and resetting thermostats to provide optimal heating and cooling. More “green” projects are underway at Valley Pres this summer, including water-cooling and plumbing improvements. “By implementing extensive conservation measures, Valley Pres is the leader among hospitals in the San Fernando Valley in ecologically friendly and responsible business practices,” President and Chief Executive Officer Albert L. Greene said.
