Skybus Eliminating Burbank Flight

Budget air carrier Skybus Airlines cut one of its two daily non-stop flights between Bob Hope Airport in Burbank and Columbus, Ohio. The airline made the move in the face of higher fuel prices and wanting to use its fleet more effectively. The change goes into effect Jan. 6. Columbus-based Skybus is also eliminating flights to San Diego and Bellingham, Wash. At the same time, Skybus is adding flights to its Greensboro/Winston-Salem, N.C. and Punta Gorda/Fort Meyers, Fla. service. “Within the next few weeks, we will be making significant announcements about even more service expansions that will strengthen and broaden our route structure to meet what has been heavier-than-expected demand,” Skybus CEO Bill Diffenderffer said. Passengers booked for the discontinued Burbank flights will be automatically rebooked on the remaining flight. Those passengers also have the option for a refund or change their reservation without a charge.
