Software Firm Reports Big Jump in Income

A large order of its pharmaceutical software helped give a boost in the first quarter net income for Simulations Plus Inc. The Lancaster-based company reported an income of $405,434, or $0.01 per diluted share, on revenues of nearly $2 million for the quarter ending Nov. 30. That is more than a 300 percent increase over the net income of $93,865 on revenues of $1.45 million for the same period in 2007. Revenues from pharmaceutical software and services increased to $1.4 million in the first quarter from $824,000 in the first quarter of 2007. Research and development expenses increased to $226,000 in the first quarter from $184,000 in the first quarter of the prior year due to an expansion of the Life Sciences staff.
