Maintenance Facility Wins Award

The City of Santa Clarita has received the Los Angeles Architectural Award of Excellence for its Transit Maintenance Facility for outstanding architecture in civic sustainability. Santa Clarita’s Transit Maintenance Facility is the city’s first building to obtain Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. It includes design features such as straw bale insulated exterior walls, under-floor HVAC system through a raised-floor plenum, recycled building materials and water efficient landscaping. Hosted by the Los Angeles Business Council, the 38th annual Los Angeles Architectural Awards brought together more than 800 architects, community leaders, designers, contractors and real estate professionals to acknowledge projects in Los Angeles County which improve the quality of architecture and enhance the urban fabric of Los Angeles. Awardees were selected by a 13-member jury of architects, contractors and developers.
