Federal Grant to Help with Job Training

Northeast San Fernando Valley residents in training programs to work at local supermarkets will benefit from a $686,000 federal grant received by the San Fernando Valley Financial Development Corp. The grant funds the Pacoima Training Center Project to provide low-income residents with job readiness assessments, career counseling, and job training. “The San Fernando Valley Financial Development Corporation is committed to providing low-income residents in the San Fernando Valley with job training and placement opportunities in order to help them become self-sufficient members of our community,” said Congressman Brad Sherman, who assisted in getting the grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Community Services. The Valley Financial Development Corp. is an allied program of the Valley Economic Development Center.
