Metrolink suit eyes contractor

GLENDALE , Metrolink took steps this week to limit its financial liability in last month’s deadly Chatsworth train crash, filing a lawsuit against its train-staffing subcontractor, which officials said could be at fault for the accident due to employee misconduct. Federal investigators this month said La Crescenta resident and Metrolink 111 engineer Robert Sanchez sent and received text messages from his cellphone just seconds before the train collided with a southbound Union Pacific freighter Sept. 12 in Chatsworth, killing 25 people and injuring 135 others.
