New Publisher Named at Daily News

A long-time veteran of the newspaper industry was named as the new publisher of the Daily News. Jack Klunder is the fifth publisher at the Valley-based paper since October 2006 when budget cuts resulted in then-publisher Tracy Rafter being laid off. Also serving in that position were John McKeon, Edward Moss, and Doug Hanes. Klunder worked at the Los Angeles Newspaper Group, which includes the Daily News, from 1999 to 2005 as vice president of circulation. He also served as vice president of circulation and distribution at the Los Angeles Times from 2005 until earlier this year, the Daily News reported. Klunder is a graduate of Pepperdine University and UCLA’s Anderson School of Management. “Jack’s understanding of our market and his impressive track record make him ideally suited to run the Daily News,” said Fred Hamilton, LANG’s chief executive officer was quoted in the Daily News.
