Sales Down for Healthcare IT Provider Aspyra

A lack of spending for healthcare information technology contributed to Aspyra Inc. reporting a net loss of $1.6 million for the second quarter. The Westlake Village-based firm of clinical and diagnostic systems had revenues of $2.1 million for the quarter ending June 30. For the same period in 2008, the company had a net loss of $1.2 million, or $0.10 per diluted share, on revenues of $2.3 million. Aspyra had a strong start to the quarter that then tapered off as sales did not close because of reduced spending in the healthcare industry, said CEO Rodney Schutt. “Alternatively, we are seeing an increase in ancillary and upgrade sales for existing customers,” Schitt said. “This further demonstrates the company’s strong customer following, which provides positive references for new system prospects.”
