IPC The Hospitalist Company Inc. acquired the hospitalist practice of Midwest Acute Care Consultants Inc. in St. Louis. This marks the first acquisition that the company has made in 2009. IPC, which is based in North Hollywood and became a public company last year, acquired 10 practices in 2008. The acquisition represents IPC’s continued expansion in the St. Louis market, according to the company. “The purchase of MACC’s hospitalist operations continues our merger and acquisition program at a healthy pace,” said Dr. Adam Singer, IPC chairman and CEO. “Many hospitalist practice groups are discovering that IPC offers a comprehensive business solution that includes integrated practice management infrastructure, extensive recruiting capabilities and financing to support future growth.”
