Construction began on a $78-million retail project that will bring much needed jobs and stores to Pacoima. Plaza Pacoima includes a Costoc, Best Buy plus restaurant and office space. Building the center will create 438 construction jobs with 354 permanent positions at the businesses themselves, the Los Angeles Times reported. The center is being built on the old plumbing fixture manufacturer Price Pfister property that needed a complex environmental clean up that took years. “What’s being created here is truly an economic miracle, especially in this climate,” said Bruce Ackerman, president and chief executive of the Economic Alliance of the San Fernando Valley, was quoted in the Times.
