Harman Adds to Northridge Facility

Harman International Industries Inc. will relocate administrative functions from a New York office to Northridge in the coming months, the company announced. The move to bring sales, marketing and administration duties from Woodbury, New York to the San Fernando Valley is part of the strategy to strengthen Harman operations through resource consolidations. The closure of the Woodbury consumer audio office results in the elimination of 130 employees. A limited number will be offered relocation. “We remain committed to the needs of our consumer audio customers and look forward to serving them from an integrated Harman International facility in Northridge, which has hosted elements of our Automotive and Professional businesses for many years,” said Harman Chairman and CEO Dinesh C. Paliwal. The adding of administrative functions in Northridge comes concurrently as more than 300 manufacturing jobs are phased out in the automotive audio products division. The Northridge facility was once the largest of Harman’s worldwide plants.
