Peanut Butter Scare Reaches Reseda School

A brand of frozen cookie dough distributed to local schools, including Melvin Avenue Elementary in Reseda, has been recalled because of potential contamination with Salmonella. The Los Angeles County Health Officer is warning consumers not to handle, bake or eat frozen Peanut Butter Cookie Dough distributed by Sweet Success Fundraising Inc. of Ontario, Calif. The brand of frozen cookie dough was distributed to Los Angeles County schools from Dec. 8, 2008, to Jan. 8, 2009 as part of school fundraising activities by the schools’ student bodies. No illnesses associated with Sweet Success cookie dough have been reported so far. Meanwhile, the California Department of Public Health is working with the State Department of Education on the matter.
