Van Nuys Included in New Flight Tracking System

Tracking of aircraft flying to and from Van Nuys Airport can be more easily followed and noise complaints more easily filed with the new Internet tracking system from Los Angeles World Airports. WebTrak replaces the previous system used by LAWA at Van Nuys, Los Angeles International and Ontario airports since 2002. The system can be accessed through the Noise Management page at the Van Nuys Airport website. WebTrak allows the public to view movement of flights and air traffic, obtain information on flight identification, aircraft type and origin/destination airports for aircraft flying over their neighborhoods. The integrated noise complaint feature allows residents to submit a form with the pertinent information already filled in. The new system shows LAWA’s commitment to providing the means to quickly identify and report operations causing concerns to residents in neighborhoods near the airports, said Robert Freeman, environment services division manager for LAWA.
