Holy Cross Names New CEO

Larry Bowe has been appointed as chief executive of Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, replacing Kerry Carmody, who was named COO of Providence’ California operations late last year. “I’m thrilled to be part of this team,” Bowe said. “It’s definitely an honor to work with such a high-functioning group at one of the best hospitals in the country.” Bowe, currently chief executive of the Providence Yamhill service area in Oregon, which includes Providence Newberg Medical Center, will take his new post April 20. Bowe will take the reigns of Providence Holy Cross without a major thorn that stuck in his predecessor’s side for at least two years, as the Los Angeles City Council gave final approval for construction of a 136-bed expansion. Work had been halted for months by protests from Councilman Richard Alar & #231;on, local residents and other groups. The hospital, which has one of the few remaining trauma centers in the region, will mark its 25th anniversary next month. “Providence Holy Cross is very fortunate to have a man of Larry Bowe’s caliber take over the reins,” said Kerry Carmody. Bowe’s first career was as a lawyer. He switched to healthcare after getting a master’s degree in healthcare administration from University of Colorado, Denver. He has been with Providence for 14 years. Thom Senzee
