Norway Orders Raven Aircraft

The Norwegian military has ordered unmanned aerial vehicles from Aerovironment Inc. in a deal worth $4.9 million. The Raven small aircraft systems, spares, and training services will begin in early 2011 to the Norwegian Defence Logistics Organisation. Aerovironment manufactures the Raven and its other unmanned vehicles at a facility in Simi Valley. The Raven has been purchased by other foreign military and has proven its value, said Tom Herring, senior vice president and general manager of the Unmanned Aircraft Systems business segment. “As the most prolific unmanned aircraft system, Raven gives frontline forces the ability to perform their tasks more effectively and safely,” Herring said. “We are committed to helping the Norwegian armed forces employ Raven systems successfully.” Mark R.
