Chamber Marks 100th Birthday

The Glendale Chamber of Commerce celebrates its 100th anniversary this year after a century of helping shape the city, despite economic challenges. While the chamber will meet its 100-year-mark on Sept. 21, it honored the date early with its “Celebration of the Century,” a formal dinner and silent auction at The Americana at Brand on June 3. The event was the chamber’s second anniversary celebration of the year, following an awards luncheon in March, said Chamber Executive Vice President and CEO Judee Kendall. “It’s really exciting for us,” Kendall said. “There aren’t a lot of companies or businesses or organizations that reach this milestone. I think it says a lot about our organization and the leadership in our organization and its partnership with the city.” The chamber has contributed to many of Glendale’s greatest developments, including the building of the Glendale-Hyperion Bridge, the building of the Pasadena Freeway and the addition of The Americana at Brand, Kendall said.
