Recovering Semiconductor Market Helps Trio-Tech Financials

Higher sales in its manufacturing and testing business divisions contributed to Trio-Tech International posting a net profit for the third quarter when compared to a year ago. The Van Nuys-based company reported net income of $117,000, or $0.04 per diluted share, on revenues of $10.8 million for the quarter ending March 31. In the same period in 2009, the company had a net loss of $261,000, or $0.05 per diluted share, on revenues of $3.7 million. A recovery in the global semiconductor market and revenue from solar energy products and services business TT Solar in Singapore also were a benefit for the company, said CEO SW Yong. “We are encouraged by the positive trends we see in the electronics industry worldwide,” Yong said. “At the same time, our strategy to add new sources of revenue is beginning to generate the incremental growth we anticipated.” Mark R.
