The Valley Industry Association has named the general manager at Six Flags Magic Mountain as its incoming board chairman, the Valencia-based business organization announced. Tim Burkhart will replace the group’s current chairman Randy Moberg, who is also chief operating officer of L/B/W Insurance & Financial Services Inc. As general manager of the theme park, Burkhart’s responsibilities include park operations, maintenance and engineering and construction. He also oversees food service, games and retail operations at both Six Flags Magic Mountain and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor. Burkhart has worked at the theme park since 1977. He currently serves as vice chair of Santa Clarita’s Planning Commission and is past president of the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce. He is also involved in several charitable organizations, including Boy Scouts of America, United Way, Santa Clarita Anti-Gang Task Force, the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley and other groups. Burkhart has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the California State University system and a master’s degree in business administration.
