Greater San Fernando Valley dealers ranked by total revenues in 2009 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Due to the harsh economic climate of the automotive industry, it has been two years since the Business Journal has published the List of the largest local auto dealers. Not surprisingly, Galpin Motors in North Hills (which held the no. 1 ranking from 1998 through 2008) once again placed at no. 1 with the most revenue in 2009. As for the rest of the List, seven (counting Galpin) of the fourteen dealerships listed here appear on Ward’s Dealer 500, a prestigious list that ranks the largest auto dealerships in the entire country by revenue from new car sales. Four of those seven made the top 100. – By Josh Dausch THE PACESETTER For the eleventh time, Galpin Ford has snagged the no. 1 position as the largest auto dealership in the San Fernando Valley. There are several Galpin dealerships that appear on this year’s List, but it is their Ford dealership that has reported the most total revenue for 2009. In terms of national ranking, Galpin Ford came in at no. 11 on Ward’s Dealer 500 list. They were outranked by only two other California based dealerships. Originally founded in 1946 by Frank Galpin, current owner Herbert F. Boeckmann II joined in 1953 and became president of the dealership a decade later.
