Kaiser Permanente Awards Eight Valley Nursing Students

Kaiser Permanente Panorama City Medical Center announced today that eight nursing students in the San Fernando Valley and Santa Clarita Valley have been awarded scholarships to help continue their nursing education. The grants are part of Kaiser Permanente Southern California’s initiative to award more than 300,000 dollars in scholarships. Eighty-two students were chosen throughout Southern California to receive individual grants of $1,000-$3,000. Van Nuys resident and scholarship recipient Lucine Dounamalian said she has wanted to be nurse since she was a child and that her path into nursing has not been easy. “It took me approximately six years to finish my undergrad degree since I had to work to put myself through college,” Dounamalian said. “I am thrilled to have received this award. It could not have come at a better time.”
