Bloomingdales Coming to Glendale Galleria

General Growth Properties Thursday announced Bloomingdales will be the newest anchor retailer at Glendale Galleria. The new Bloomingdales will open in fall of 2013 and is projected to employ 175 workers. In a prepared statement, Michael Gould, chairman and chief executive officer of Bloomingdale’s, said the Glendale Galleria location marks the company’s eighth store in the Los Angeles market. “Much like Bloomingdale’s stores in Soho and Santa Monica, we expect our assortment and shopping experience in Glendale will be carefully edited for the community and customer,” Gould said. The new addition is part of the shopping center’s renovation plan, GGP officials said. Glendale Mayor Laura Friedman said the GGP’s expansion plan aims to update the shopping center and make it more appealing to consumers. “Glendale Galleria always has been a strong partner, working together with the city and its residents to provide the best in retail for the region,” Friedman said. “The addition of Bloomingdale’s and the mall’s renovation will serve to further strengthen the city of Glendale’s retail core, adding both new jobs and shopping venues.”
