AeroVironment Delivers Unmanned Aircraft to U.S. Marines

AeroVironment Inc. received a $3.6 million order from the U.S. Marine Corps for the company’s Raven unmanned aircraft systems. The Monrovia-based company delivered the small, remotely-operated aircraft in April. AeroVironment develops and manufactures its unmanned aircraft at its facility in Simi Valley. The light-weight Raven aircraft provides reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition in war zones. “The Raven system remains the cornerstone small UAS capability for the Marines and other military services, providing proven, reliable frontline situational awareness, anywhere and at any time,” said Tom Herring, AeroVironment senior vice president and general manager, Unmanned Aircraft Systems, in a prepared statement.
