40 Under 40, Mott

Kayvan Mott, 28 Vice President of Marketing/Advertising, Infinite Communications Kayvan Mott leads by example. The 28-year-old is partner and vice president of Sherman Oaks-based marketing and public relations firm Infinite Communications. “I don’t demand others work hard,” Mott said. “I work hard myself and hope it inspires my team members to do the same. I don’t demand respect. I treat all of our team members with respect and in return they do the same.” In addition to overseeing design and communications for Infinite Communications clients, Mott recently became the youngest member of the Valley Economic Alliance board of governors. He has been a guest lecturer at Cal State University, Northridge, and also has taught UCLA Extension classes. Mott received his B.A. from the UCLA design and media arts program and recently completed a marketing certificate through UCLA Extension. Continuing education is important, he says, noting he participates in the Making It Happen Book Club, a business book club for entrepreneurs in the Los Angeles area. “Through reading and discussing best-selling books, I’ve learned dozens of lessons from great CEOs and business moguls without having to make those mistakes myself,” Mott said. In his spare time, Mott practices yoga and plays the piano. He says the reason most people don’t achieve their goals is because they “simply don’t have a sticky note on their desk reminding them of their priorities.”
