Agoura Hills Accountant in KPMG Scandal

The accountant at the center of the KPMG insider trading scandal has direct ties to the San Fernando Valley. Scott London, a partner at the Los Angeles office of the major accounting firm until he resigned last week, allegedly provided sensitive information to a third party about two KPMG clients, Los Angeles supplement and diet company Herbalife Ltd. and Manhattan Beach casual shoemaker Skechers USA Inc. Since the scandal broke Monday, KPGM has resigned as independent auditor of both companies. London graduated from California State University Northridge. He, his wife and two children live in Agoura Hills. He also chairs the Los Angeles Sports Commission, a group that tries to bring major sporting events to the region. The Securities and Exchange Commission is investigating whether London engaged in insider trading. The Wall Street Journal quoted London as saying he regretted his “actions in leaking nonpublic data to a third party.” In a statement, Skechers said that KPMG informed the company that the “audit partner under investigation is cooperating with the authorities.”
