Morton Bolt Plant Celebrated

Aerospace fastener manufacturer Morton Manufacturing held a grand opening Friday of its new plant in Lancaster. The company is relocating to Lancaster from the Santa Clarita Valley to occupy an 88,000-square foot building in the Lancaster Business Park. Morton has about 200 employees and will add 150 employees in the new location. Despite the celebration, the facility will not begin operations until after it goes through government and industry inspections. That is expected sometime next year. Founded in 1967, Morton is one of the leading worldwide suppliers of nickel-alloy bolts for gas-turbine aircraft, as well as certain gas-turbine engines used in other industries. Construction on the building began in October 2012. The opening was attended by company and civic officials, including Mayor R. Rex Parris.
