Dick’s Sporting Goods Inc. is opening a store in the Antelope Valley Mall to become the newest anchor tenant of the Palmdale retail center. The Coraopolis, Pa.-based retailer is leasing space in a free-standing building formerly occupied by mid-tier department store chain Gottschalks Inc. Dick’s also operates stores in Santa Clarita and Moorpark. The announcement of the addition of Dick’s was made Wednesday by Palmdale officials and representatives of the mall. The 95,000 square foot building will be redeveloped and alterations made to the entrance plaza to the mall. Dick’s will be one of several tenants in the building. Forest City Enterprises Inc., in Cleveland, owns the enclosed main building of the mall. In February, Forest City bought the free-standing anchor property from Spanish retail company El Corte Ingles S.A. Other anchor tenants at the mall are Macy’s, J.C. Penney Co. Inc. store, Forever 21 Inc. and Sears, Roebuck & Co.
