Video Game Publisher Closing Northridge Facility

Video game publisher 2K Games Inc. is closing its Northridge quality-assurance studio later this year and transferring the work to Las Vegas. The closure will eliminate 48 jobs effective Dec. 15, according to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining notice filed with the state Employment Development Department. The Novato company said the move will maximize its efficiency and better align its resources. “This move will allow 2K to operate a significantly larger and more effective QA facility as we continue to grow our business across all divisions,” the company said in a statement. A company spokesperson would not comment on whether employees from Northridge have been offered positions in Las Vegas. 2K releases games for consoles and PCs and its titles include “Bioshock Infinite,” Borderlands 2,” and “Duke Nukem Forever.” The company is a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive Software Inc., in New York City.
