Anywind to Open Headquarters in Palmdale

A South Korean energy company announced Tuesday it will open the headquarters of its wind energy division in Palmdale. Anywind Wind Power Electric Inc. and the city signed an agreement for Anywind to manufacture its wind turbine systems in a building left vacant after its previous tenant went bankrupt. Anywind is owned by Pishon Energy Inc. It has 11 patents on various components of wind turbines that use sleep twist round blades in place of traditional propeller type turbine blades. The company’s coming to Palmdale is a step forward in the city becoming a major player in renewable energy, Mayor Jim Ledford said. “Anywind couldn’t have picked a better place to build their innovative product than here in the Antelope Valley where the wind is a consistent natural resource,” Ledford said in a prepared statement. The company will open its headquarters at 450 W. Palmdale Blvd. and is looking to purchase the 130,000-square-foot building at 600 Technology Drive as its manufacturing facility. The building had formerly been occupied by Senior Systems Inc., a contract manufacturer of electronic components and circuit boards that filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in July 2012.
