Albertsons Reports Data Breach

Albertsons customers in Los Angeles County may have had their credit and debit card information comprised by a wide data breach, the supermarket chain’s owners said Friday. AB Acquisition of Boise, Idaho, said stores in California, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Nevada, Oregon, Southern Utah, Washington and Wyoming may have been affected by the breach. The company said computer forensic investigators are looking into the breach and it is not yet known if the hackers succeeded in stealing customers’ data. It also is working with Albertsons former owner, Supervalu Inc. in Minneapolis, to determine what happened. Supervalu continues to provide IT services to Albertsons, and said that other retailers it owns have also been affected by the data breach. The breach likely occurred between June 22 and July of this year. Law enforcement officials have been notified, the chain said.
