Ixia Hires HP Exec as CEO

Ixia has named a technology industry veteran as its chief executive and president. Bethany Mayer will head up the Calabasas computer networking software developer that has faced financial turmoil from late filings of quarterly reports and potential delisting from the Nasdaq. Her appointment was effective on Thursday. Mayer joins Ixia from Hewlett-Packard Co., where she most recently served as a senior vice president and general manager of the Network Functions Virtualization business for the Palo Alto computer company. She also served as general manager of the HP Networking Business unit, and as vice president, marketing and alliances for HP’s Enterprise Servers Storage and Networking Group. Her age is 52, according to a Business Week executive profile. “It is an honor to build upon Ixia’s strong legacy and foundation at this pivotal time for the company and the networking industry,” Mayer said, in a prepared statement. Her appointment comes as Ixia tries to become current with its Securities and Exchange Commission filings. The company fell behind with quarterly reports following the fall 2013 resignation of then-Chief Executive Vic Alston when it was discovered he had falsified his resume. The late filings threatened Ixia’s listing on the Nasdaq, but the company has been allowed to keep trading pending a Sept. 12 deadline to file all its back paperwork. Shares closed up 16 cents, or nearly 2 percent, to $9.76 on the Nasdaq.
