Universal Studios changed the leadership of its home entertainment division with the departure of long-time president Craig Kornblau, the studio announced Tuesday. Kornblau, who has been with Universal for 16 years, has been replaced by Eddie Cunningham, who has been the president of Universal Pictures International Entertainment since 2006. The move was made to bring all home entertainment operations under a single president to give greater global focus and meet strategic goals, said Peter Levinsohn, Universal Pictures president and chief distribution officer, in a memo to employees. Cunningham will relocate to Los Angeles from London. He joined Universal in 1999 when Polygram, where he was managing director of the U.K. home entertainment division, was acquired by the U.S. company. Kornblau said he was leaving Universal on a high note and with a sense of pride and accomplishment. “I am very fortunate to have teamed with such an exceptional group of talented individuals and appreciate all of the innovation, collaboration and camaraderie that have rendered this organization second to none in the industry,” Kornblau said in a prepared statement.
