DreamWorks Teams With YouTube

DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. has teamed up with YouTube to create a new series, “YouTube Nation,” according to media reports on Friday. The Glendale animation studio will co-produce the series with the online video-sharing website. YouTube, a San Bruno-based subsidiary of Google Inc., will provide the financing, the Los Angeles Times reported. “YouTube Nation” is a five-minute feature highlighting the best of YouTube content. The series is expected to debut next week. DreamWorks Chief Executive Jeffrey Katezenberg said the series deepens his studio’s ties with the website and reflects the suitability of the Internet as a distribution platform. In May, the studio acquired AwesomenessTV, a YouTube network aimed at a teenage audience, in a deal valued at $100 million. Shares in DreamWorks closed unchanged at $34.64 on the Nasdaq.
