IPC Expands With Pennsylvania Acquisition

IPC The Hospitalist Co. Inc. has purchased Comprehensive Health Solutions in suburban Philadelphia, the company announced on Monday. The North Hollywood company, which provides doctors to hospitals and nursing homes, did not disclose financial details of the transaction. The acquisition of the Newtown Square firm will add about 13,500 patient visits to IPC. So far this year, IPC has purchased at least 19 doctor groups in six states. The Comprehensive deal will broaden the company’s footprint both geographically and in the post-acute care sector. “We are excited about the expansion of our business into the Philadelphia market,” IPC President Jeffrey Taylor, in a statement. Shares closed down 35 cents, or nearly 1 percent, to $44.39 on the Nasdaq.
