Post-production house Modern VideoFilm has been brought in executives for a new management team from a unit of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Ltd. that helps turn around troubled companies. Scott Avila joins the Burbank company as chief executive and Cooper Crouse as president, effective on Wednesday. Both are directors with the Deloitte Corporate Restructuring Group, a team providing advisory and interim management services to companies and their stakeholders. They are joined by Roxanna Sassanian who was appointed chief financial officer. Remaining with the company are Bill Watt, president of digital media services; Mark Smirnoff, president of creative services, and Jon Johnson, executive vice president of sales. The new management team will broaden its ties to studio clients, independent producers and content distributors on implementing new ways of producing and distributing content. “With the media landscape changing rapidly, we need to be a nimble, forward-thinking company,” Avila said in a prepared statement. The changes follow management turnover at Modern VideoFilm. Former Chief Executive Moshe Barkat and former chief financial officer Hugh Miller left a month ago. Avila was quoted in the entertainment industry trade publication Hollywood Reporter as saying the board of directors wanted a change because it was in the best interests of the business, and there was “no plan to sell” the company. Avila, Crouse and Sassanian had been working together at Culver Studios, in Culver City, prior to coming to the post-production house. Modern FilmVideo has more than 500 employees in four offices. Its credits include “Game of Thrones,” “Modern Family,” and “Sleepy Hollow.”
