Briefs: Princess Cruises, Tix Corp.

Princess Cruises is partnering with the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks to draw team fans to the cruise line, following similar agreements it has reached with other NFL teams. The partnership between the Valencia cruise line and the National Football League team includes a sweepstakes for Seahawks fans and special showings of NFL games on the fleet’s outdoor screens. The cruise line departs to destinations in Alaska from the Washington state port city and plans to expand its Seattle cruises as part of the sweepstakes. Princess, a subsidiary of Carnival Corp. & plc in Miami and Southampton, U.K., also has partnerships with the Chicago Bears, San Francisco 49ers and the Houston Texans, all based in port cities. “Not only do Seattleites have a passion for their home team but our research tells us that Seahawks fans also have a passion for exploring the world on cruise vacations,” said Gordon Ho, senior vice president of global marketing, in a statement. “So we think that bringing the two together is a winning combination.” Shareholders of discount tickets service firm Tix Corp. re-elected the company’s board of directors. The five directors, including Tix Chairman and Chief Executive Mitch Francis, will serve through next year’s annual meeting. Shareholders on Friday also ratified the appointment of Weinberg & Co., in Los Angeles, as the company’s accounting firm. Tix operates kiosks in Las Vegas that sell discounted tickets for live shows and dinner reservations. Shares remained at $1.25 after no trading on the over-the-counter market.
