Agoura Shopping Center Sells for $27.8 Million

An Agoura Hills shopping center off the 101 freeway near Kanan Road has sold for $27.8 million, or about $768 a square foot. The 12,813-square-foot Shops at Oak Creek was purchased by DSB Properties Inc. of Westlake Village from seller Loja Real Estate LLC of Walnut Creek, according to real estate data provider CoStar Group Inc. The deal closed April 1. The 5.7-acre property at 28941-29145 Canwood St. comprises five buildings with multiple retail tenants, including Trader Joe’s, Jinky’s Café, Verizon Wireless, Panda Express and The Habit. The property was fully leased at the time of the sale. Matthew May, of May Realty Advisors in Sherman Oaks, represented both sides of the transaction. The seller, a Northern California investment management firm, had acquired the property in 2012 for $19.5 million and will now pursue larger retail opportunities, May said. The buyer is a private investor based in Westlake Village. May has been the broker on the property since the center was developed in 2010. “This is the closest Trader Joe’s to Malibu and it’s one of their most successful stores because it picks up a lot of Malibu business,” May said.
