CheapAir Offers Payment Plan for Tickets

Website CheapAir.com has started offering monthly payments to purchase flights. The Calabasas online travel agency has partnered with Affirm, a financial services technology firm in San Francisco, to make the new service available. CheapAir.com is the second online travel service to pair up with Affirm. In May, Affirm announced it would process monthly payments for hotel bookings through Expedia. CheapAir Chief Executive Jeff Klee said the monthly payment plan is to attract business from travelers who do not have a credit card. “We want to give everyone the freedom to travel, regardless of whether or not they choose to use credit cards,” Klee said in a prepared statement. Affirm makes a credit decision in real time after customers put in their name, , email address, mobile phone number, date of birth, and the last four digits of their Social Security number. Payment can be made with a debit card, check or through an automated clearinghouse transfer. Klee founded CheapAir in 1989 while in college and has evolved the company in keeping with changes in the travel industry. CheapAir’s search engine allows customers to instantly view all possible options for outbound and return flights and sort them and filter them, without having to re-load the pages or restart searches.
