Want to Drive A Movie Car? Place a Bid.

A Northridge movie vehicle supplier plans to auction off more than 300 classic autos, muscle cars and specialty vehicles. Picture Car Warehouse will hold the online auction April 20-27. Among the vehicles for sale are a 1956 DeSoto, 1965 Harley-Davidson chopper, 1966 “427” Corvette, 1967 Chevelle SS, Camaros, Mustangs, Firebirds, ambulances, armored cars, news vans and custom motorcycles. The specialty vehicles include a John Deere tractor used in an episode of cable series “Mad Men.” A 1961 Lincoln limousine was used in a Bud Light commercial. Picture Car Warehouse was founded in 2002 by Ted Moser, a transportation coordinator who took his personal collection of 25 vehicles and grew it into the hundreds. If the company cannot find a certain vehicle, the staff has the skills to create custom cars. It moved to the San Fernando Valley from downtown Los Angeles in 2011. In addition to “Mad Men,” the company has supplied cars seen in “Rush Hour 3,” “The Bucket List,” “Sons of Anarchy,” “Entourage” and commercials for Allstate and Chevrolet. The company has hired Tiger Capital Group in New York to handle the online auction. Tiger is the same appraisal, disposition and financing firm that handled the liquidation of retail chain Sports Authority last year. Jeff Tanenbaum, the Westlake Village-based president of the commercial and industrial division of Tiger Capital, said that Picture Car Warehouse is doing the auction to clear out inventory. “It is stuff they are not using as much and not renting as often and can give them capital to make other acquisitions,” Tanenbaum said. Picture Car Warehouse relocated to its current space on Parthenia Street from Reseda Boulevard after that property, which for many years was a Cadillac dealership, was sold. The buyer, a Beverly Hills developer, plans to build a mixed-use development and small-lot homes on the 3.3-acre site. Interested buyers in the vehicles can check them out on April 26 at 18959 Parthenia St. in Northridge and 34855 Petersen Road in Agua Dulce. – Mark R. Madler
