Westfield to Partner with Uber for Service at Retail Centers

Tracking down an Uber after a day at the mall is about to get a little easier. Sydney, Australia-headquartered Westfield Corp., which has offices in Century City, has announced a partnership with San Francisco ride-share service Uber to create dedicated pick-up and drop-off locations for Uber passengers at its shopping centers beginning this fall, the company announced Thursday. The effort aims to make shopping at Westfield stores more convenient for customers, and does not differ from ordinary Uber rides apart from having the designated meet-up locations shown on the app’s map. Westfield’s properties in Woodland Hills, Sherman Oaks and Valencia are included in the initiative. While the relationship with Uber is exclusive – meaning Westfield will not mark pick-up points for drivers of Uber’s competitors, such as Lyft – other ride-sharing services remain welcome to transport guests to and from the shopping centers.
