Santa Clarita Chamber Hosts Year-End Holiday Mixer

About 200 members and guests of the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce celebrated the holidays with a year-capping mixer held at Oakmont of Santa Clarita, an eldercare facility at 28650 Newhall Ranch Road. Amid catered hors d’oeuvres and smorgasbord plus live musicians, the chamber celebrated the appointment of its incoming 2019 Board Chair Nancy Lulejian Starczyk as well as the arrival of Oakmont’s new leader, Executive Director Igor Molchanov, who previously worked as senior executive director at Sunrise Assisted Living in Sterling Canyon, located in Valencia. Oakmont of Santa Clarita, a 121-bed assisted living community in Valencia, is one of the facilities under the auspices of Oakmont Senior Living, a family-owned company founded by Bay Area developer William Gallagher. Starczyk’s predecessor, outgoing 2018 Board Chair Troy Hooper, of Kiwi Hospitality, was also in attendance, as were a slew of local business and cultural leaders, including 2019 Board Members Liz Seelman, Jill Mellady and Pam Ingram; State Sen. Scott Wilk; Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation President Marlee Lauffer; College of the Canyons Vice President of Economic Development Jeffrey Forrest; Holiday Inn Express General Manager Karina Winkler; and Zony Gordon, who in 2018 led the Santa Clarita Artists Association. The arts are a key component of Santa Clarita’s civic identity and branding. At October’s State of the City address, held at the Hyatt Regency Valencia, the city of Santa Clarita dubbed itself City of the Arts. On Jan. 25, Starczyk, a realtor at Realty Executives, will be officially installed at the chamber’s 96th Annual Awards and Installation Dinner at the Hyatt Regency.
