Capstone Falls After Quarterly Report

Shares of Capstone Turbine Corp. fell more than 13 percent Friday, the day after the company reported a wider net loss and a decrease in revenue for the fiscal third quarter. The Van Nuys microturbine manufacturer reported a net loss of $3.5 million (-5 cents a share) on revenue of $18 million for the quarter ending Dec. 31. That compares with a net loss of $323,000 (-1 cent) on revenue of $22.8 million in the same period a year earlier. Analysts on average expected an earnings loss of -6 cents on revenue of $22.4 million, according to Thomson Financial Network. The quarterly results were released Thursday. Shares of Capstone closed on Friday down 12 cents, ore more than 13 percent, to 79 cents on the Nasdaq.
