HBO Max Marches to Launch Pad

WarnerMedia announced on April 21 that its new streaming service HBO Max would be available starting next month. Debuting on May 27, the Burbank-based HBO Max will make available original programming along with 10,000 hours of library titles including HBO premium shows such as “Game of Thrones,” “The Wire” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” and movies that include classics such as “Casablanca” and “The Wizard of Oz,” to more recent hits including “A Star is Born,” “Aquaman” and “Joker.” Robert Greenblatt, chairman of Warner Media Entertainment and Direct-to-Consumer, said the company’s main goal is to have extraordinary content for the whole family and the mix it has put together for the debut bears that out. “I’m knocked out by the breadth and depth of our new offering, from the Max originals, our Warner Bros. library and acquisition titles from around the world, and of course the entirety of HBO,” Greenblatt said in a statement. Original programming on day one of the new service includes “Craftopia,” a kids crafting competition hosted and executive produced by YouTube influencer Lauren Riihimaki aka (LaurDIY); underground ballroom dancing competition show “Legendary”; Anna Kendrick in her first full-length scripted show, “Love Life”; “Looney Tunes Cartoons,” an all-new series from Warner Bros. Animation starring the cherished Looney Tunes characters; and a talk show, “The Not Too Late Show With Elmo,” starring the popular Sesame Street Muppet.
