Preview: Industrial Real Estate in Short Supply

Since mid-March, the pandemic has proven problematic for commercial real estate across the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys. Yet according to top brokerage group Team DeGrinis of Newmark Knight Frank, the industrial sector was able to rally after a six-week pause in March and April – and to the agents’ surprise, 2020 may be their best year ever. Patrick DuRoss, Jeff Abraham and team leader John DeGrinis have been active in the North Los Angeles industrial sector as a trio for more than a decade. In a conversation with the Business Journal from their new office space in Calabasas, the three brokers agreed that while the pandemics has canceled the entertainment industry’s need for warehouses capable of serving as set storage and soundstages, companies from other industries such as e-commerce, biotech, cosmetics, food and beverage, and moving and storage have leased up available warehouse space.
