According to Chief Executive Robert Khachatryan the company will see revenue increase by 25 percent to 30 percent this year. He attributes that to the change in shopping habits due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“We are positioned really well to take advantage of all the changes,” Khachatryan said in an interview with the Business Journal. “Think of all the people who are buying gym equipment for their homes because they cannot go to the gym anymore. … We were kind of on the winning side of that change.”The company’s software allows customers to obtain quotes for shipments on online for specialty services such as LTL, or “less than load,” when a shipment can’t fill an entire truck; or LCL, the same idea applied to ocean-bound containers.

The company participates in Amazon.com Inc.’s Service Provider Network, which is sort of e-commerce in reverse. Instead of shipping goods from an Amazon warehouse to consumers, Freight Right handles shipments from manufacturers to Amazon’s warehouses and distribution centers.

“We have customers who happen to specialize in goods that would become very popular because of the pandemic,” Khachatryan explained. At Freight Right, the biggest asset is its personnel, Khachatryan said. But a challenge for the company has been in the hiring and training process.“Not everybody feels comfortable showing up for an interview,” he said. – Mark R. Madler
