Estrella Media Inc. is starting a new dating show this spring and has tabbed Mexican actress Angelica Vale as its host.
“La Mascara Del Amor,” or “The Mask of Love,” is currently in production at the Estrella studios in Burbank and will start airing on the Spanish language broadcaster EstrellaTV on May 27. Vale will be both host and confidant to the contestants – a single man or woman who will be wooed through games and challenges by five masked suitors, according to the company. At the end, it is ultimately up to the main contestant to decide between love or the cash prize at the end of each episode.Vale is a multitalented performer as an actress, singer, comedian, voice over talent, playwright and celebrity impersonator. She is the daughter of actress and singer Angélica María and the singer, actor and comedian Raul Vale. She is the granddaughter of internationally renowned producer, director and writer Angélica Ortiz.Her career in the entertainment industry began at age 2 and since then has gone on to include nine feature films, 30 theatrical productions and more than 250 television productions throughout Latin America and the U.S., including “La Fea Más Bella,” Mexico’s version of hit ABC sitcom “Ugly Betty,” which in turn was based on the Colombian sitcom “Betty La Fea.” “This series is a new twist on how people make personal love connections beyond typical first date pleasantries,” Vale said in a statement. “On this show, our contestants will have the opportunity to participate in games and situations that allow them to get to know someone before seeing who is behind the mask.”
