Regarding Her, a Los Angeles nonprofit that helps women restaurateurs, announced Tuesday the inaugural recipients of its grant program, including two in the San Fernando Valley.The organization partnered with DoorDash, the food delivery company, to provide $10,000 in cash grants to 15 women-owned and operated restaurants or food businesses. The grantees also receive access to consulting and mentorship from specialists in restaurant finance, human resources and public relations/marketing.The two Valley businesses receiving grants are Dreamy Creations Cupcake Café, started by mother-daughter team of Crystal Schaffner and Jenica Braddock in Northridge; and Filipino restaurant Tatang in North Hollywood, founded by J.R. Martin, its chef.Lien Ta, a founding member of Regarding Her, said the group was overwhelmed and moved by the caliber and worthiness of the applications it received for the grants.“These women have overcome incredible hardships and are still so full of hope and ambition to keep driving their businesses forward, and we are thrilled that we can support our fellow business-owners in this small but hopefully impactful way,” Ta said in a statement.Also among the founders of Regarding Her is Sandra Cordero, owner of Gasolina Café, a Spanish-influenced restaurant in Woodland Hills.
