Software Entrepreneur Joins Capstone Board

Ping Fu has been elected to serve on the board of directors of Capstone Green Energy Corp.She replaces Holly Van Deursen who retired from the board of the Van Nuys microturbine and green energy products manufacturer last month.Fu currently serves on the boards of Live Nation Entertainment in Beverly Hills, the Long Now Foundation in San Francisco and Burning Man, also in San Francisco. She is also an advisor to the prime minister’s office of the United Arab Emirates.In 1997, Fu co-founded Geomagic, a 3D imaging software company that was acquired by 3D Systems Corp. in Rock Hill, S.C. in 2013. In 2005, Fu was recognized by Inc. magazine as its Entrepreneur of the Year. She has more than 20 years of software industry experience in database, networking, geometry processing and computer graphics.Robert Flexon, chairman of the Capstone board, welcomed Fu to the company and said it was fortunate to have her join the board.“Her impressive personal and professional accomplishments are nothing short of amazing, and her creativity and proven entrepreneurship skills will continue our drive forward to transform Capstone Green Energy into a global leader in carbon reduction and on-site resilient green energy solutions,” Flexon said in a statement.Fu said she was thrilled to join the Capstone board and to help guide the company’s team to new heights.“As more businesses realize the need to look at alternative options for reducing their carbon footprint, lowering their emissions, having reliable sources of on-site power, all while reducing their energy costs, we want Capstone to be their go-to source,” Fu said in a statement.Shares of Capstone Green Energy (CGRN) closed up 13 cents, or 2.9 percent, to $4.61 on the Nasdaq, on a day when that market closed up a fraction of a percent.
